How to Use Grok Bot for a Side Hustle: Start With One Useful Job

Set up a focused Grok Bot for research, preparation, or recurring review, with sample briefs and clear checkpoints before customer-facing actions.

Product documentation checked October 11, 2026. If you have seen the name written as “grokbot,” this guide covers Grok Bot, the named product in xAI's documentation. It is distinct from simply asking a question in Grok or configuring a separate OpenClaw installation.

What the product does

The official overview describes persistent Bots that work with apps, files, a browser, and a terminal on a cloud computer. A Bot can keep context between tasks and use available integrations or browser interaction. This makes a focused ongoing job a better starting point than asking it to “run my business.” Account access, usage limits, and available features depend on the current product and plan.

Get a first Bot ready

Follow the official setup guide and its download link. The guide currently describes signing in through a Cursor account, with eligible paid Cursor access or a supported linked individual SuperGrok subscription. Check its current billing and privacy requirements rather than assuming an existing subscription includes unlimited use.

Install the supported app, sign in, and create a Bot with a name and one job. Start with a document or a few public pages. Add an app connection only when the job requires it. Review the requested permissions and complete account authentication yourself when prompted; passwords and verification codes do not belong in a task brief.

First job: turn customer questions into a research brief

Imagine you sell event-planning templates. You already have anonymized questions from five people who agreed to provide feedback. Ask the Bot to organize those notes and identify gaps you should investigate. That is a bounded task with a result you can check against the inputs.

Your job is research preparation for my event-planning template business. Use these anonymized interview notes and these three public source pages. Group repeated problems, quote only short necessary excerpts, and link each factual finding to its source and date. Separate observations from proposed ideas. Return a one-page brief and five follow-up questions. Do not contact anyone, purchase anything, or edit my live website.

This is an original example, not a claim that Grok Bot independently validates a business. Read the source notes yourself. If the Bot identifies a pattern, check whether it appears across distinct people and whether it describes a problem they would prioritize.

Second job: prepare a weekly operations review

Provide a deliberately small export of your open tasks, deadlines, and project statuses. Ask for a list of overdue items, missing inputs, and decisions needed. Keep the original records available so you can check the summary. A review brief can help you notice work; it should not silently change commitments.

Review this week's project export. List deadlines within seven days, missing customer inputs, and overdue tasks. Include record IDs. Draft a three-action plan based on urgency and dependency. Flag ambiguous dates and statuses. Do not modify records or send messages. Ask me to resolve anything that changes a customer commitment.

Move from a one-time task to a repeatable routine

Run the process manually a few times and keep a corrected example of the desired output. The official setup guide describes saving a stable process as a skill or creating a routine. Define its sources, timing, output location, and review point. Confirm a routine exists and inspect its first execution before relying on it.

Remember that a persisted browser session is access to real work. Give the Bot only the tools needed for its job, review shared access, and make customer communication, publishing, spending, and destructive changes deliberate decisions.

Evaluate the result, not the personality

Track whether the Bot found relevant information, preserved source links, exposed missing data, and saved time after review. If you spend more time correcting it than doing the task, narrow the brief or change the workflow. For a codebase task, compare the fit with Claude Code and ChatGPT/Codex.

Try this today

Create one Bot for one read-only preparation task. Give it a clear deliverable and compare the output with the original sources before connecting additional business systems.
